2021 Annandale Parade canceled

The Annandale Parade will not be held for the second year in a row due to the COVID pandemic. The 2021 parade had been scheduled for Oct. 23.

The Annandale Chamber of Commerce sent this message to parade participants: 

“Because of the rise in transmission of the Delta variant and because parents of young, yet to be vaccinated children are understandably nervous about having their kids gather (even outdoors) in groups, the Annandale Chamber of Commerce has made a collective decision to cancel this year’s parade.

“We wish this action was not necessary but fully anticipate having a very comprehensive and memorable 2022 Annandale Parade when the community will feel more participatory and ready for the joy and fun this treasured event provides.” 

The 2022 parade has been scheduled for Oct. 22. The last parade was in 2019. The 2018 parade was canceled the day before due to bad weather. 

An annual tradition since 1950, the parade features marching bands, community organizations, international dance groups, fire trucks, Scout troops, politicians, and much more.
