340 Fairfax County employees are moving to Annandale next June
About 340 Fairfax County employees will be relocated from Falls Church to the Heritage II and III office buildings at 7611 Little River Turnpike in Annandale in about seven months.
The move affects these offices: the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board, the Health Department, the Department of Family Services, Neighborhood and Community Services, Department of Administration for Human Services, and Fairfax County Public Schools.
The employees being moved are currently at 6245 Leesburg Pike in Falls Church across from the Seven Corners shopping center.
“The county is choosing to relocate because of the initial failure to reach agreement with the current landlord regarding the terms of the lease,” says Amy Carlini, director of communications for the Fairfax County Department of Family Services.
The six-story Heritage II and III buildings will provide more space and better working conditions, she says. And the Annandale location “is also within the geographical area for individuals who currently receive services in the Falls Church building.”
The move is expected to take place over a two-week period in June 2012 and should be completed by July.
The county offices are expected to occupy the third, fourth, and fifth floors of the Heritage II building and the second, third, and fourth floors and part of the first floor in Heritage III. That space is currently vacant.
