The public is invited to take part in the Ravenwood Park Dog-Walk Fest, Sunday, Sept. 29, 2-3 p.m., to support the Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation.
What’s most remarkable about this fundraiser is its organizer: a 7-year-old, Hayley Teich, who came up with the idea after her family agreed to take Buddy, a sweet Golden Retriever whose owner could no longer keep. Hayley had already started her own dog-walking business and decided she wanted to do more to help find good homes for rescue dogs.
Hayley proposed her idea for the Dog-Walk Fest to the Ravenwood Park Citizens Association, which agreed to lend its support.
People from the neighborhood—and anywhere else in the surrounding area—are invited to bring their dog to the starting point on Colmac Drive and take part in a group walk around Ravenwood Park. The entry fee is $5 and all proceeds will go the Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation.
There will be prizes from PetSmart for the best behaved dog, the cutest dog, and the dog with the best trick.
Even if you don’t have a dog, come anyway to enjoy a fun outing and support Hayley and her cause.
You can also register for the event in advance, or send a donation for Hayley’s fundraiser by sending a $5 check (or more) made out to the Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation to Carol Turner, 3223 Sargent Drive, Falls Church, VA 22044.
Wow, go Hayley!
