92 Chicken replaces Choong Man Chicken

The name has changed, but the main offering at this small casual restaurant in Annandale still features Korean-style fried chicken.

The owner of the former Choong Man Chicken place at 7133B Columbia Pike (actually on Tom Davis Drive) has switched to another franchise company called 92 Chicken.

The chicken recipe is a little different, and the menu features more chicken options than before, including sweet onion, red hot pepper, garlic spicy, lemon spring onion, cheese monster, and more. Among the other items: fried calamari, fish and chips, and dumplings.

Choong Man Chicken opened in September 2018 in a former Vietnamese noodle shop.

While Choong Man Chicken has outlets primarily in Fairfax County, 92 Chicken has seven restaurants across the United States, including North Carolina, New York, Texas, and Kansas, as well as Annandale. Seven more are in development.

  1. I tried it last week, and it’s pretty good. I talked to the person picking up the phone and yes, like the description said, it’s not just a rebrand but has the same food, the recipe is different but they said Korean fried chicken all tastes similar anyways. As far as the verdict, I got the garlic spicy and soy garlic, it was good, my whole family liked it. Also of note, they told me that they were ending the buy one get one free whole chicken promo they’ve had during the pandemic last week.

  2. Choong Man was outstanding, good god some of their flavors were extremely hot. Best of luck with the new game plan!
