A rainstorm doesn’t stop the Kleztet show at Mason District Park
Audience members invited on stage during rainstorm. |
The Spotlight by Starlight concert Wednesday evening was a true example of the saying, “the show must go on,” a reader reports. The Alexandria Kleztet was just a couple songs into their show at Mason District Park in Annandale when the skies opened up, pouring down rain on what had been a pretty good-sized crowd.
About 20 30 people remained and crowded onto the wings of the stage while the Kelztet traded electric instruments for safer options and played on, mixing in some rain-appropriate numbers with traditional and contemporary pieces.
The free concert series continues at Mason District Park with Gypsy jazz by the John Jorgenson Quintet tonight and the Capitol Steps’ political humor show on Sunday, July 14. Both of those shows start at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, 10 a.m., there’s a children’s show (Paul Hadfield “General Foolishness”), and that evening, it’s Bulgarian Cultural Night at Ossian Hall Park, 7:30.
