If you or your children played soccer on an Annandale Boys & Girls Club team, you might want to come to the DC United game Saturday, as ABGC President Kip Germain will be recognized during halftime along with his former Washington Diplomats teammates.
The game starts at 8 p.m. at Audi Field. DC United is going up against the San Jose Earthquakes.
If anyone would like to buy tickets for the June 1 game, call ABGC’s DC United rep, Tim Birkemyer, at 202-655-2841, and request the ABGC group rate.
Germain played for the Diplomats in 1979-80. He moved on to the Atlanta Chiefs in 1981 and served as a National Olympic Development Program Region I Women’s soccer coach 1985-2005.
His parents, Everett G. Germain Jr. and Lois M. Germain, founded Annandale Boys’ & Girls’ Club Inc. in 1959. After Everett passed away, Kip Germain became ABGC president and his brother and sister, Greg Germain and Julie Germain Thompson, became vice presidents.
ABGC uniforms are mostly red and white, reflecting the colors of Annandale High School, and its building on Annandale Road is painted white with red trim.
