All-women jazz orchestra will perform at NOVA

Shannon Gunn and the Bullettes

An historic event takes place in Annandale next weekend: the debut performance of Washington, D.C.’s, first all-women, all-star professional jazz orchestra.

Shannon Gunn and the Bullettes Jazz Orchestra, with singer Lena Seikaly, will perform Sunday, June 26, at 4 p.m., in the Ernst Cultural Center Theater at Northern Virginia Community College in Annandale. The group will play swing and jazz music, including original compositions and arrangements of tunes by band members

The annual Women in Jazz Concert is produced by the Reunion Music Society and NOVA’s Annandale Campus Music Programs. “Shannon Gunn and her ensemble are an important group in our local jazz community. The ability of the college’s music program to support this talent speaks to our role as a vital contributor to the cultural and artistic life of Northern Virginia,” said Calvin Haney, student life coordinator for NOVA’s Annandale Campus.

A portion of the proceeds from this performance will go toward NOVA’s Annandale Campus Women in Jazz Scholarship. Tickets are $15 ($10 for seniors and $7 with a student ID).

  1. I saw the reunion music society cover Nelson Riddle arrangements of all sorts of American Classics. They were SOOOOO good. I recommend going to this – !
