Amazon Fresh opens in Franconia this week

Curious about the Amazon Fresh grocery store coming to Crossroads Center in Bailey’s Crossroads? Stop by for a preview at the Amazon Fresh opening May 27 in Franconia. 

The Amazon Fresh in Bailey’s Crossroads is expected to open in late 2022 in the former Safeway space. 

The Franconia store, at 7005 C Manchester Blvd., in the Festival of Manchester Lakes Shopping Center, is having some opening-day specials. The first 100 customers in line on May 27 will get an Amazon gift card and tote bag. There will be giveaways and prizes through May 30, as well as a chance to win a $250 gift card. 

Amazon Fresh stores offer several innovations:

• Shoppers use an Amazon Dash Cart that automatically tracks their items and processes their payment as they exit the store. 
• Customers can find items using the Alexa Shopping List on the Amazon app or a blue Alexa kiosk. 
• The store offers free in-store pickup and returns of Amazon packages – with no need for a box, label, or tape.

Amazon Fresh is advertising discounts on several items at the Franconia store, including bananas for 15 cents each and pizza slices for $1.79. Sign up for weekly deals via email here. 

The store is open 7 a.m.-10 p.m. daily.

Amazon Fresh stores are also planned for Fairfax, Lorton, Gaithersburg, and Chevy Chase, and two smaller Amazon Go stores are coming to D.C.
