Neighbors, police officers, firefighters, Fairfax
County leaders, and political candidates gathered in cul de sacs, community pools, shopping centers and other venues throughout the Annandale area last night to celebrate
National Night Out, a national campaign focusing on crime prevention.

“National Night Out symbolizes the partnership between
law enforcement and the community. It really shows that the police cannot do it
alone,” said Capt. Gun Lee, commander of the Mason Police District, at the
Annandale Shopping Center.
There were more than 30 National Night Out events in the
Mason District, he said.
Firefighers from Station #410 in Bailey’s Crossroads brought
two fire trucks to the National Night Out gathering in the Lincolnia
Hills/Heywood Glen neighborhood.
“We’re blessed in Fairfax County to have strong community
support and a low crime rate,” said Fairfax County Police Chief David Rohrer at a potluck in Annandale
’s Camelot neighborhood.
Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, who is running
for governor in 2013, showed up at several National Night Out events, including
those at the Annandale Shopping Center, the Parliaments apartment complex, and Camelot.
