Annandale choral students perform a virtual concert featuring African-American composers
The Annandale High School Choral Department hosted its first virtual concert, “Lift Every Voice,” featuring all five of the school’s choirs performing works of six living African-American composers with a focus on hope, equity, and unity.
The concert is available on YouTube.
Several choral members speak during the performance about what the songs mean to them.
The concert also includes special guest appearances from several of the featured composers: André Thomas (retired director of choral activities at Florida State University), Mark Miller (assistant professor of church music at Drew Theological School), Victor Johnson (minister of worship and arts at Shiloh Baptist Church in Plano, Texas), Eugene Rogers (choral director at the University of Michigan), Jeffrey Ames (choral director at Belmont University), and Jeffery Redding (choral director at the University of Central Florida).
Nice, talented kids!
