Annandale cited as a foodie destination

Annandale is one of the top suburbs in the nation for having “true destination-worthy eats,” according to Thrillist.
The website includes Annandale among its list of 11 top places in the United States outside metropolitan areas for foodies, noting “Annandale has long been the DC metro area’s go-to for some bibimbap with a side of karaoke,” it states, “but the Korean enclave has become an even more powerful draw in the past year with the opening of The Block, a 5,000-square-foot Asian food hall from the owner of the much-loved shaved ice slinging food bus SnoCream.”
In addition to SnoCream, The Block has “everything from poke to pork belly pho to boat noodle soup at the various stands,” Thrillist notes, and “appropriately and excitingly, they recently launched a night market.”
The website also cites the Korean-Chinese restaurant Jang Won, the sublime soups at Lighthouse Tofu, the 24/7 Korean-Japanese gorging available at Yechon, the barbecue at Kogiya, and the sweets at Breeze Bakery.
The other suburbs listed by Thrillist (followed by their metro area) are: Beaverton, Ore. (Portland); Bellevue, Wash. (Seattle); Dearborn, Mich. (Detroit); Decatur, Ga. (Atlanta); Dublin, Ohio (Columbus); Evanston, Ill. (Chicago); Larkspur, Calif. (San Francisco); Pearland, Texas (Houston); Round Rock, Texas (Austin); and Winter Park, Fla. (Orlando).
Add Markham Street Cafe with Cauliflower Curry Soup, Chicken Pesto Sandwich, Gruyere Mac and Cheese, Pulled Pork and more!
Good to know that Annandale is being considered for something other than a dump or section 8 housing empire.
I agree that Markham Street Café serves wonderful food in a comfortable atmosphere. It is really exciting that everything is prepared in-house. Will definitely return. The only problem with the gruyere mac and cheese is it is soo delicious, but rich. Next time will share a portion.
