Annandale cleaning up after storm
A tree knocked down a power line in front of 3802 Terrace Drive, Annandale |
Downed trees and power outages are all over Annandale as the area recovers from a rare derecho wind storm that struck June 29. According to Dominion, 80 to 85 percent of customers who lost power should expect it to be restored by July 3 and 90 to 95 percent should see their power back by July 5.
Mason District neighborhoods where a lot of residents lack power include Parklawn, Broyhill Crest, Ravensworth, and Lee Boulevard Heights.
Among the 100+ traffic lights out, are the ones at Hummer Road/Gallows Road, Route50/Gallows Road, and the Old Columbia Pike/Little River Turnpike intersections. Send me an email when these lights come back on or if you know of other problems.
Dominion’s list of location where work crews are operating today include two sites in Annandale: Hillbrook Drive/Little River Turnpike and Glen Park Road/Braddock Road.
The community rooms at the Mason District Government Center are open in case people need relief from the heat and need to recharge their devices. The Audrey Moore RECenter and Hidden Oaks Nature Center are closed. The George Mason Regional Library was scheduled to open at 1 p.m.

The Annandale Terrace REC-Pac program is closed; participants are advised to go the REC-Pac center at Braddock Elementary School.
