Annandale Farmers Market opens May 2
The Annandale Farmers Market, at Mason District Park on Columbia Pike, opens for the season on Thursday, May 2. It will operate every Thursday, 8 a.m.-noon, through Nov. 7.
The Annandale market is one of 10 farmers markets operated by the Fairfax County Park Authority. The market at Wakefield Park is open Wednesdays, 2-6 p.m.
These vendors will be at the Annandale market:
- 78 Acres, Washington County, Md. – Apples, apricots, artichokes, blueberries, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, and more.
- Beanetics Coffee Roasters, Annandale – Packaged coffee.
- F.J. Medina & Son Farm – Many kinds of vegetables, berries, and herbs.
- Great Harvest Bread Co., Fairfax County – Breads, cookies, muffins, cinnamon rolls, etc.
- Honeycomb Heroes, Stafford County – Honey, beeswax products.
- J & W Valley View Farm, Westmoreland County – Asparagus, Brussels sprouts, corn, eggplants, herbs, leeks, melons, peas, rhubarb, strawberries, and much more.
- Layla’s Lebanese Restaurant, Prince William County – Hummus, eggplant, parsley, garlic.
- Metropolitan Bakery, Washington, D.C. – Baked goods.
- Shawkawi Farm, Fauquier County – Herbs, dried flowers, teas, cucumbers, peppers, etc.
- Twin Springs Fruit Farm, Adams County, Pa. – Apples, berries, cider, grapes, melons, salad greens, heirloom tomatoes, and much more.
- Valentines Bakery & Meats, Madison County – Grass-fed beef and veal, other meats, eggs, cakes, fruit turnovers, whoopie pies, berries, plums, etc.
Farmers markets are also a great place to get gardening advice. Stop by the plant clinic hosted by Fairfax County Master Gardeners. Representatives from George Mason Regional Library will also be at the Annandale market once a month.
What happened to the ladies who sell pickles?
