Annandale Farmers Market opens tomorrow

The Annandale Farmers Market, at Mason District Park, opens for the season tomorrow morning. About a dozen vendors will be on hand offering homemade bread, pies, herbs, flowers, meat, and Greek pastries, as well as all kinds of seasonal vegetables and fruits.

The Annandale market will be open every Thursday, 8 a.m.-noon, through Nov. 7. It’s one of 11 farmers markets operated by the Fairfax County Park Authority through the Community Horticulture Office based at Green Spring Gardens. The other market in the Annandale area is at Wakefield Park. It will be open Wednesdays, 2-6 p.m., May 7-Oct. 29.

All items sold at these markets must be produced by vendors within 125 miles of Fairfax County. The day-to-day operations of the markets are managed by volunteer market masters. Both the Annandale and Wakefield markets have a plant clinic on-site where master gardeners can answer questions about plants, soil, and pest control.

A new privately operated
farmers market will open May 4 at the Mosaic District in Merrifield. It will be open Sundays, 9
a.m.-2 p.m.

  1. I have been waiting all winter for this. Both Annandale markets have their own personality, and I enjoy visiting both, but bus sevice is better at Mason District Park. I'm looking foward to checking out the new Sunday market.
