The annual Annandale Festival offers food, music and fun

| The Annandale Festival brought hundreds of people to the Safeway parking lot on Little River Turnpike Saturday for food, live performances, children’s entertainment, games, crafts, and venders of all sorts. The Annandale Festival and Parade are sponsored by the Annandale Chamber of Commerce. |

| The Autentica Diablada group performed at the festival after participating in the Annandale Parade earlier in the day. The costumes are all handmade and can cost as much as $1,500 for the more elaborate ones. |

| Most of the 46 members of Autentica Diablada group are from Cochabamba, Bolivia, says the group’s leader Jose Escobar, a resident of the Broyhill Crest neighborhood in Annandale. The dancers acted out an event that happened in Cochabamba in 1846. When the Spaniards tried to steal the gold from a mine, the local people hid inside with costumes and scared them away. |
