Annandale Fire Department hosts big community yard sale May 10

The Annandale Firehouse.

Last year’s Annandale Community Yard Sale was a big success, so it’s happening again—Saturday, May 10, at the Annandale Volunteer Fire Department parking lot, 7128 Columbia Pike, 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

Food will be available on-site from the Annandale VFD Canteen service. If it rains, the event will be moved under covered areas or inside the fire station’s social hall.

If you want to sell things, you must register in advance and can do so online. “Our first event last year was a sellout, and spaces are once again expected to go very fast,” says organizer Brenda Waller. “So don’t delay in signing up if you wish to participate.”

Vendors can reserve a parking space with an eight-foot table and chair for $20 if paid in advance, or $25 if paid on the day of the event. Discounts are available for those who reserve multiple spaces. For more information, contact [email protected].

Another major event will also be going on in Annandale on May 10: the Annual Bed Race takes place on John Marr Drive in front of Kmart at 10 a.m. This event, sponsored by the Annandale Chamber of Commerce, raises money for Special Olympics Virginia. Five-person teams, sponsored by local businesses will race down the street pushing wildly decorated hospital beds. In some cases, public officials will play the role of “patient” in the bed.

The chamber-sponsored Annandale Spring Carnival, which usually opens in conjunction with the Bed Race, will open later this year, June 6-21, in the Kmart parking lot.

  1. This was a great last year. I came a bit late and there were still a lot of super finds. I met some cool folks as well. I really do hope this becomes an annual event.
