Annandale fire station hosts huge crab feast
Crowds of people filled the social hall at the AnnandaleFire Station July 29, as they enjoyed unlimited crab legs and spiced shrimp while helping

The two fire departments collaborate on a crab feast three
times a year and split the proceeds, says Gary Moore, deputy chief of the
Annandale Volunteer Fire Department. The event usually nets about $1,500 for
each fire station.

A silent auction at the event included a week at a villa on
the Greek Island of Santorini contributed by Gina Galloway of Villas andVoyages, gift baskets, and event tickets. Corporate sponsors for
the crab feast include NOVA Wrestling and HVAC Unlimited.

The shrimp and crab legs, about 700 to 800 pounds of them, were from the Saucy Crab Co., in Maryland. There was also corn on the cob, hush
puppies, hot dogs, and an array of desserts.

The next craft feast is Oct. 29, and there will be large
screen TVs showing the Redskins game.

We went for the first time on Saturday and definitely plan to return. The food, conversation, and service were all great, and we were happy to support such a worthy cause. Thanks to all of the volunteers who help make this event a success!
