Annandale Florist shop reopens with new owner in new location

It was a sad day when Annandale Florist closed last December.
It’s now back: Kim Park purchased the business from owner Gary Sherfey, who had
retired after running Annandale Florist for some 45 years. His parents had
founded the store in 1955.
Park has reopened Annandale Florist a few blocks down the
street, at 7035 Columbia Pike, next to the Juke Box Diner, in a space that had
been vacant for years since a consignment shop closed. Park had initially planned
to lease space in the original building but that didn’t work out.

Annandale Florist is Park’s third flower shop. She also owns
Buckingham Florist in Arlington, which opened in 1942, and Tysons Flower Affair in Tysons Corner next to the new Wal-Mart.
“Every time people in Annandale call to place an order, they
are so nice,” Park says. “I wanted to have a location here in Annandale.”
In the new shop, brand-new flower coolers have been
installed, but everything else isn’t completely set up yet. Park says her other
stores provide flowers for lots of weddings and funerals. She has been
conducting flower arranging classes in Arlington for the past eight years and
hopes to that service in the Annandale shop, too.
