The Hair Cuttery at 7404 Little River Turnpike in Annandale is closing permanently.

The Ratner Cos., which owns Hair Cuttery and other salons, had been struggling financially before the coronavirus pandemic. In January the company announced it would close 10 percent of its locations.

Meanwhile, all hair salons in Virginia have been temporarily shuttered during the coronavirus pandemic in compliance with an executive order by Gov. Ralph Northam.

Most of the stylists at the Annandale Hair Cuttery plan to relocate to Hair Unik, at 7034 Columbia Pike, Annandale, when hair salons are allowed to reopen. [UPDATE: The Hair Cuttery at Barcroft Plaza is also closed permanently.]

Creative Hairdressers Inc., an affiliate of the Ratner Cos., announced April 23 that it has agreed to sell its assets to HC Salon Holdings Inc., an affilitate of Tacit Salon Holdings LLC, including the majority of its salon locations.

Creative Hairdressers announced May 11 that it has received approval from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland for certain bidding procedures in connection with the sale of its assets. A court-supervised auction process is expected with the goal of finding the highest offer for the company’s assets.

The next step is “to reduce our debt obligations and position the business to rebound out of the COVID-19 crisis and operate in a financially healthier state going forward,” said Creative Hairdressers President Phil Horvath. “We continue to be excited about our long-term potential and are looking forward to re-opening our doors and meeting the pent-up demand from people who are eager to look and feel their best again.”

  1. What about the one at Barcroft Plaza? On Sunday there was a pick up truck out front full of boxes? Employees were bringing out more boxes as I drove by.

  2. My wife has debated taking over hair cutting duties for a few years but was too scared to take the plunge. But now she has done it twice and my hair looks… pretty decent. It isn't what a professional barber would do, but I have a feeling she will be my stylist from here on out.
