Annandale home transformed into an undersea fantasy
While most Halloween decoration around here featured skeletons, ghouls, and graveyards, one Annandale homeowner went all out to create an undersea fantasy with a seven-foot shark, jellyfish hanging from trees, a treasure chest, a big clamshell full of treats, and blue and green nylon netting and lights mimicking ocean waves.
Homeowner Pamela Rinehart was decked out as a mermaid queen with a stuffed octopus and trident.
Only a few trick-or-treaters and neighbors got to see the display as it was tucked away at the rear of the Little River Mews community.
Rinehart started creating the undersea environment in September. Rinehart puts together a unique Halloween display every year. Last year’s theme was “Corvid-19” with crows, which are part of the Corvidae family.
When thinking about Halloween 2021, “I didn’t want to do the same old thing,” she said. “I saw mermaid skeletons and big inflatable sharks, and it just spontaneously evolved.”
It’s all been taken down, but something just as imaginative is likely to appear next year.
