Annandale jewelry store robbed
Two men robbed the Shammas Jewelry shop on the lower level of Antiques & Art Emporium at 7120 Little River Turnpike, Annandale, at about 1:38 p.m. on Dec. 24.
According to a report from Fairfax County Police, two men entered the business, brandished handguns, and demanded cash. They fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry.
The suspects were described as light, approximately 6 feet 5 inches tall and 170 to 190 pounds. They were wearing masks so, “if I went to court, I would never identify them,” said Fahmi Shammas, the owner of the shop, who was still shaken up on Dec. 26 but feeling lucky he was not hurt.
The suspects took $46 from his pocket and approximately $4,000 to $5,000 worth of jewelry, mostly silver and gold, although Shammas hasn’t get figured out the exact amount. Most of the items stolen are worth $20 to $75, he said.
As it was Christmas Eve, only Shammas Jewelry and a few other shops were open, and Shammas said the suspects didn’t rob anyone else. There are about a dozen small shops—selling collectibles, furniture, glassware, old radios, and coins—in the building.
