Annandale Kicks for Cans soccer fest raises funds to fight hunger
The public is invited to come watch some youth soccer at the second Annandale United FC Pride Kicks for Cans Scrimmage Festival to Fight Hunger Sunday, March 22, 8 a.m.-2 p.m., at Pine Ridge Park in Annandale.
The AUFC Pride team will play soccer teams from St. Mary’s, Md., and Fredericksburg, Va. The Annandale United Football Club is the travel soccer component of the Annandale Boys and Girls Club.
Each player, family member, and supporter will donate non-perishable food items to the Annandale Christian Community for Action (ACCA), a coalition of local churches that provides food, financial support, home repair, shelter assistance, and other help to needy residents of the Annandale and Bailey’s Crossroads areas.
At the AUFC Pride’s last Kicks for Cans event, the team donated more than 600 pounds of food and $250 in the fight against hunger.
The Tailgater Toby BBQ food truck will be at the event, at 3401 Woodburn Road, offering a variety of sandwiches, hot dogs, burgers, salads, and more. Toby’s will donate 10 percent of the profits to ACCA at the end of the day.
