Annandale man charged with baby’s death

Detectives from the Mason Police District arrested Shane Frye, 37, of Annandale, in connection with the overdose death of his 4-month-old son.

Officers responded to the 4200 block of Americana Drive in Annandale on June 15, 2023, for an unresponsive baby, who was being cared for by Frye. The baby was transported to a hospital where he passed away.

Drug paraphernalia was plainly visible in the home. Detectives executed multiple search warrants that revealed the presence of Schedule I/II narcotics within the home and in Frye’s system.

Results from an autopsy conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner found narcotics in the baby’s system.

Police arrested Frye on March 5 and charged him with involuntary manslaughter, felony child abuse and neglect, and two counts of possession of Schedule I/II narcotics. He is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on no bond.
