Annandale parade and festival this Saturday
The biggest event in Annandale takes place on Saturday, Oct. 22—the annual parade and festival, sponsored by the Annandale Chamber of Commerce.
The parade, 10 a.m.-noon, heads up Columbia Pike, starting at the Gallows Road intersection, and makes its way to the festival in the Safeway parking lot on Little River Turnpike.
The festival, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., features 80 craft and other vendors, performances, kids activities, and “the Taste of Annandale” with items from local restaurants.
The headliner is country Western/rock performer Tory Bailey, at 3 p.m. International and swing dancers and rock, jazz, and country bands round out the entertainment.
The Kid’s Zone includes a climbing wall, bungee jump, bungee basketball, face painters, toddler games, and costumed characters. There will also be a Secret Garden featuring puppet shows at 1 and 3 p.m. and the Traveling Storyteller at noon and 2 p.m.
Your description of the route doesnt match others (patch, for example. I would really like a MAP of the parade route…didnt anyone make one? Descriptions dont help me as well as a map. Please! give us a map. Thanks.
Last year, the parade turned on Maple then headed up Markham, finishing at the Safeway parking lot. The best viewing areas are along Columbia Pike. You should plan to arrive early or park several blocks away and walk.
