Annandale real estate market showed gains in October

According to statistics provided by our real estate contributor, Vivianne Couts of Coldwell Banker, the housing market in Annandale appears to be picking up, compared to a year ago.

In October 2011, the average price of homes sold in zip code 22003 is up 11.3 percent, the average median price of homes sold is up 16.9 percent, and the average list price of homes sold is up 11.4 percent.

Homes are taking a bit longer to sell though—66 days last month compared to 54 days in October 2010. And only 16 attached units sold last month, compared to 25 in October 2010. There are also fewer active listings, 137 last month, compared to 149 the same month a year ago.
Only two homes sold in October 2011 for more than $600,000. There are four active listings in the $1 million to $2.5 million range.
