Annandale Subway vandalized
A rowdy group of youths vandalized the Subway on Heritage Drive in Annandale at about 10:15 a.m. this morning.
About five or six youths had spent a long time in the shop without ordering anything, owner Emil Ranakusuma reports. When the manager asked them nicely to leave to make room for paying customers, they went outside, laughed, screamed at the manager, and left. Then a few came back, kicked in the front window, breaking the glass.
It will cost $2,000 or $3,000 to fix the window, Ranakusuma says. He plans to file an insurance claim. The same window was broken three or four months ago when a truck accidentally crashed into the store.
He also plans to press charges against the youths. “They have to know the consequences. We cannot let it go.”
He asks anyone with information about the youths to call the store manager at 703-790-0201.
These youths have no respect. I hope they find them and charge them accordingly.
Why aren’t they in school, volunteering or at a job? Where are their parents?
If there parents are like most other parents, they are probably at work.
We don’t know if these kids were recently graduated high school seniors, who are out of school, or what.
There’s no excuse for the actions of these kids and i’m glad the owner is going to press charges, but can we give this kind of parent shaming a rest?
No, we can’t, because this is spot-on analysis.
Aren’t you a teacher, Jeff? You need to review your ‘their/they’re/there’s’ you silly grammar offender, you!
No surprise; Heritage Drive looks like the streets of the New Delhi slums. Between the roadsters roaring through our streets during the night and an uptick in crime, one has to wonder where are the police?
Crime has spiked and so have homicides. Police don’t show up before or during a crime. They respond to calls of a crime. The question of “where are the police” is getting old. It’s like asking where was Batman?
You’re on your own.
Commenter guidelines state: “criticize ideas, not people”
The idea of not holding criminals responsible for crime makes my brain angry.
