Balancé Ballet is closing in late June, citing the

Boulter. Relocating isn’t an option, as the “the cost to move the studio would

The rent is up to $45 a square foot and with all
the other costs, like insurance, taxes, and fees for overall maintenance, the studio
is paying nearly $7,500 a month, she says. “It takes a lot of dancers to cover
that.”

Balancé Ballet is having its final recital June 12. In a
letter to parents announcing the decision to close, Boulter and co-owner Sarah
Stewart said they made arrangements for Tiny Dancers, a ballet studio for ages
2-12 with locations in Alexandria, Fairfax, and the Mosaic District, to accept Balancé
students.

Edens, the company that owns Pinecrest Plaza, presents itself as being neighborhood friendly, she

Maybe Edens can drive out all of the community serving retail and build a massive apartment complex which the community neither needs or desires.
Balance' Ballet is a wonderful studio and sadly my daughter is upset to see them close. Rebecca & Sarah are amazing teachers who have blessed many of children over the last 10 years. I can not believe that Edens would think that raising the rent and driving business' out is good for them and the community.
Mason District should be declared an economic disaster zone.
This real sad to see them close after 10 years. These landlords does not care if the spaces are empty for short period or long. It's all tax deductible for them. When you rich and powerful you know all the ways to your benefits. This exact thing happen to me in 2008. I had to close my business. I guess soon we won't see anymore mom and pop businesses.
This is sad. Unfortunately, that shopping center is along Little River Turnpike without any other destination shopping, dining or attractions to make it worthwhile to visit or stay. There's just nothing there. In addition, that shopping center is not very walk or bike friendly.
Starbucks, Foxfire Grill, Five Guys, Flippin Pizza and Staples are all very busy all the time.

IndAroma, Firehouse Subs, and Hunan Kitchen. Eden should be ashamed on themselves to force out all this business. We will probably get a dollar store, mattress store & Title Max.

I was adding to the great restaurants in the shopping center. They better not leave because I will have to follow them where ever they go.
Ellie – Can you contact them and ask them why they are raising the rent higher then the local area?
I read somewhere that this area is supposed to be redeveloped at some point. I can't remember if it was in the comments of this site or Nextdoor. Anyone have the scoop? Does anyone know the square footage of Balance? $7500/month seems really high. I know people with very nice yoga studio spaces in much nicer neighborhoods that aren't seeing $7500/month costs.
