Tragic story. My heart goes out to the girl's mother and grandparents.
fly high Alexis
Ellie, thank you for your excellent reporting. Your article is hands down more informative than the Washington Post article. My deepest sympathies go out to the Jackson family and to Alexis' mom and her family.
I am so sorry for their loss. I am just in shock at the entire thing.
I know the family and they are a good family. I am shocked.
I danced with Alexis for many years until she had to quit a few years ago. We love you and will miss you. You are forever in our hearts Alexis.

So sad. What the heck happened? How can this happen in this area? Oh, well, seems everyone will just go about their business – nothing to see here – move along, etc. How can this happen in our community!!? Can somebody fill in these blanks before we just move on and forget this child? What happened? Stuff like this just does not happen everyday and what if anything could have been done to prevent this? Just heartbreaking.
My heart goes out to her mother, her grandparents, friends.
