Armed carjacking and robbery in Mason District

Updated Dec. 13 – The Fairfax County Police Department’s weekend crime report includes a robbery and an armed carjacking in Mason District.

A man who had advertised a game console for sale was robbed on Dec. 8. He had agreed to meet a potential buyer at about 6:15 p.m. in the 6500 block of Little River Turnpike.
The buyer tried to purchase the item with what appeared to be fake currency. A struggle ensued at which point a second suspect appeared and displayed a weapon. The suspects fled to a nearby car with both the money and game console. The victim was not injured.

Also on Dec. 8, a 39-year-old man was standing by the trunk of his car at about 10 p.m. in the 5800 block of Oakview Gardens Drive in Bailey’s Crossroads when two men approached him. One man  put a gun to his head and demanded the keys. The car was already running, and after learning the keys were already in the car, both men hopped in and drove away. The victim was not injured.

Detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying the two carjacking suspects and finding the stolen car. The car is a burgundy 2006 BMW 750i with tinted windows and a sunroof. When stolen, it had Virginia license plates VVC-7801. It is possible the plates have since been removed or replaced with other tags. No suspect description is available at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Hoffman of the FCPD Major Crimes Bureau at 703-246-7800. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Solvers. Anonymous tipsters are eligible for cash rewards if their information leads to an arrest.

    1. The ghetto is where every week there is a funeral for someone’s kid who got shot – either intentionally or simply by being there. The ghetto is where the public schols don’t have air conditioning and so during the first two and last two months of the year, the kids have to deal with classrooms that are over 100 degrees.

Some of you keep wanting to call Mason a ghetto. You all need education on what a real ghetto is.

These crime reports aren’t good, and I’m worried about the increase in crime, but we are still far, far, from a “ghetto”.

  1. In this community it takes the help of all residents to make some major improvements, so do your part to help out, Don't place the blame onto others speak up if its not right and have some positive input as to what can help resolve the issue …..
