Armed robbery in Bailey’s Crossroads

The Fairfax County Police Department’s crime report includes an armed robbery in Bailey’s Crossroads.

A man who posted an online ad about a cell phone for sale agreed to meet a potential buyer at the Crossroads shopping center on July 2. At about 2:30 p.m., during the transaction, the buyer displayed a weapon and robbed the victim of the phone. The victim was not injured.

On July 2, police responded to a report of a stabbing just after 6 p.m. at the Commons Drive/Patriot Drive intersection in Annandale. A man had been attacked with a box cutter. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries but is expected to survive.

The suspect, Juan Vasquez-Garcia, 33, of no fixed address, was arrested, taken to the Adult Detention Center, and charged with malicious wounding.

FCPD Officer Max O’Konski, the first to respond, was hailed as a hero for saving the life of the victim, according to a news report on WJLA. The victim’s arm had been cut by a box cutter, severing an artery. He was lying on the ground, bleeding out, and would have died if O’Konski hadn’t used a tourniquet from his trauma kit to halt the loss of blood.

There were also two burglaries in Annandale. At around 10:45 p.m. on July 2, a man entered a home on the 4900 block of Tunlaw Street through an unlocked door and stole several pieces jewelry and electronics. The suspect was described as white, about 6 feet tall, with a thin build. He was wearing a light-colored hoodie and shorts and light-colored shoes with dark-colored socks.

Advance Auto Parts, at 7448 Little River Turnpike, was burglarized at some point between 8:20 p.m. on July 2 and 6:15 a.m. on July 3. Cash was reported missing.
