Armed robbery in Lincolnia

An armed robbery occurred Monday, March 31, in the Lincolnia area. A man walking from a bus stop toward his home on Chestnut Place, Alexandria, between 8:30 and 9 p.m. was robbed at gunpoint by a man described as black, 6  feet tall, and wearing all dark clothing, an Alexandria Police spokesperson confirmed.

The incident occurred between John Adams Elementary School and the tennis courts in Chambliss Park. The suspect hit the victim in the head with his pistol, kicked him in the knee, and ran off with an undisclosed amount of money. Officers from both the Alexandria and Fairfax County police departments
used K-9s and a helicopter to search the area but were not able to catch
the suspect.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Inova Alexandria Hospital where he was given stitches for a gash on his head. He is on crutches and will need treatment for his knee.
