An art show at the Mason Government
Center features artworks by Rita McCarn, founder of Sleepy Hollow Arts, along with some of her students.

Sleepy Hollow Arts offers small, separate classes for children and adults that let students explore a variety of media, including pencil, charcoal, pastel, acrylic, and watercolor. Classes are once a week. McCarn will offer an art camp for kids during the summer.

McCarn’s paintings in the show, including landscapes in Maryland and Virginia, reflect her interest in the effects of light and the healing beauty found in natural settings.
McCarn has taught art for more
than 20 years in Fairfax County Public Schools and the Holmes Run Montessori
School. She holds a bachelor of fine arts degree from the Maryland Institute
College of Art and a masters in art education from George Mason
University.
