Autistic teen missing in Lincolnia area

Update: Tobias was found in the 5500 block of Franconia Road shortly before 10 p.m., the FCPD reports. He is fine.

The Fairfax County Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in finding a missing, autistic youth, Tobias B. Ovalle, age 16. He was last seen in the 6300 block of Lachine Lane in the Lincolnia area at about 12:30 p.m. on Monday, March 14.

Tobias is about 6 feet tall and weighs 220 pounds. He wears prescription eyeglasses and was last seen wearing a black jacket. He is verbal but is shy and is not likely to approach anyone to seek help. If you see him, call the police, 703-691-2131.

  1. I'm glad Tobias was found and is safe. Unfortunately, some people with autism spectrum disorders tend to wander and aren't always aware of the dangers around them. They may be misperceived by others as being under the influence of illegal substances and/or suffering from mental illness, which can increase the risks to their safety and discourage others from offering help.
