BAE Systems Inc. is moving its headquarters operations and about 350 employees from Arlington to Fairview Park in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County.

The global defense, security, and aerospace firm announced earlier this month that it signed a lease for office space at 2941 Fairview Park Drive. The move will take place in 2020.

“BAE Systems has long been a major employer and corporate citizen in Fairfax County, an important part of our strong aerospace and defense industry sector, and we are proud to see that the company has chosen the Fairview Park area to consolidate its U.S. headquarters operation,” said Gerald L. Gordon, president and CEO of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority

“The FCEDA has been honored to work with BAE Systems over the years to build its presence here, and we look forward to further opportunities to help the company grow and thrive within the county,” Gordon said. BAE has offices in Reston, Herndon, and McLean.

The company said it conducted a comprehensive assessment of its area facilities, the needs of its workforce and regional office space options before selecting the Fairview Park location. “This new facility has been chosen to consolidate some of our existing facilities to achieve greater efficiencies and offer enhanced opportunities for collaboration among our employees,” states a BAE press release.

BAE Systems delivers a full range of products and services for air, land, and naval forces, as well as advanced electronics, security, information technology solutions, and customer support services. The company employs 83,200 people in more than 40 countries.
