This effort was part of a partnership with Our Daily Bread and Fairfax County Public Schools to ensure students in the Stuart and Fairfax high school pyramids are ready for school.
The Bailey’s Crossroads Rotary Club has also approved a plan
to have additional Rotary meetings at JEB Stuart High School to make it easier
for Stuart teachers to participate.

The Rotary Club has long had strong ties with Stuart High School. For more
than 15 years, the club has sponsored the Stuart Rotary Interact Club, a Rotary
International service organization for young men and women ages 14-18. The club
also supports an annual speech contest, provides school supplies for students, brings
students and teachers to Rotary UN Day in New York City, awards colleges scholarships
to deserving students, and recognizes outstanding teacher accomplishments.

Stuart
teachers and staff have long been interested in joining the Bailey’s Crossroads
Rotary Club but it’s difficult for them to attend meetings, which take place
early Friday mornings at the Goodwin House in Bailey’s Crossroads.

Rotary
Club President Harry Henderson, Membership Chair Chris Hocke, and Assistant
District Governor Suyong Min of Rotary District 7610 worked with Stuart High
School and District 7610 leaders to create an alternative venue that allows
Stuart teachers and staff to be full members of the Bailey’s Crossroads Rotary
Club and meet at an alternative site and time that accommodates their
scheduling needs.
