More than 20 members of the Rotary Club of Bailey’s Crossroads participated in the club’s decades-long signature project – delivering Thanksgiving dinners to families in the Culmore area.
The Rotary Club donated funds to purchase 60 Thanksgiving meals. At 9 a.m. on Nov. 20, club members, Interact students, and community members gathered at the Giant Food at Seven Corners to pack the meals and bring them to the Woodrow Wilson Library where families picked them up. Each family received a chicken, canned vegetables, and other items.
The Rotary Club especially appreciates Gloria Rubin, who organized the event, and President-Elect Jim Holcombe, who contributed time and resources.

The pandemic curtailed the project in 2020. This year, the club modified the event to better protect Rotarians and community members.
Earlier this month, the Bailey’s Crossroads Rotary Club held its first post-pandemic environmental activity – the Culmore Cleanup.
Rotary members and other volunteers, including more than a dozen elementary students, met at Woodrow Wilson Library and walked to Justice High School where they cleaned up the football stadium. Members of Hispanics Against Child Abuse and the school’s custodial staff also participated.
