The Rotary Club of Bailey’s Crossroads, in partnership
with Fairfax-based Our Daily Bread, provided more than 500 backpacks
stuffed with school supplies to three public schools in Mason District—Bailey’s Elementary School, Glasgow Middle School, and J.E.B Stuart High School—in time
for the first day of school, Sept. 4.

The partnership was formed to support Fairfax County Public Schools’ Collect for Kids program, which works to provide school
supplies to disadvantaged students. Bailey’s
Rotary Club donated $1,500, and individual Rotarians also made generous
contributions.

Jennifer Rose, Our Daily Bread development manager, Jenna McCabe, and
Becca Brummett coordinated the purchase of supplies. Volunteers at the schools
loaded the backpacks with supplies and gave them students on the first day of

effort at Stuart High School. At Glasgow, Michelle Peters, Lindsay Blanken, and
Clara Compos managed the backpack drive. Nicole Yacubovich and Maria Demarest
coordinated the efforts at Bailey’s Elementary. Rotarian Jim Holcombe, a teacher
at Stuart, was instrumental in coordinating the entire effort.

Community since 1977. The club supports Rotary Interact Clubs at Stuart and
