Baseball facilities at Pine Ridge Park to be named for longtime Little League volunteers

The Fairfax County Park Authority Board has voted to name the baseball facilities at Pine Ridge Park in honor of two longtime volunteers with the Annandale-North Springfield Little League (ANSLL).

The park’s baseball area will be renamed Kehrer Baseball Complex at Pine Ridge Park, the batting cages will be known as the Rick Elliott Batting Cages at Pine Ridge Park.

Darryl Kehrer has served as an ANSLL volunteer and Annandale High School Boosters volunteer for a combined 29 years.

During his three years as ANSLL president, he led the board in a contentious fight against a long-term private effort to acquire the Pine Ridge fields for commercial use, thus preserving the fields for local baseball and soccer youth teams.

Rick Elliott has been involved in Annandale baseball for more than 30 years, starting as a player in his youth. Since 2001, Elliott has been an ANSLL team manager, coach, and mentor.

His post-season all-star teams have won many Little League Baseball District 10 titles, and his 2016 11-12 all-star team advanced to the Virginia State Championship game – the first ANSLL team to do so since 1966. In addition, Elliott has served as director of facilities for the ANSLL board since 2008.
