Belvedere Elementary School is the first elementary school in Fairfax County authorized as an International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program (PYP).
PYP is a rigorous, internationally recognized educational program that encourages students to become globally minded thinkers and problem solvers. The PYP framework supports inquiry-based teaching and learning and encourages creative thinking and actions aimed at creating a better and more peaceful world.
After completing their education at Belvedere, students go to Glasgow Middle School, which offers the IB Middle Years Program, and then to JEB Stuart High School, which has IB Middle Years, the IB Diploma Program, and the IB Career-Related Program.

This is commendable, but I would personally rather prefer if FCPS high schools all offered AP classes.
IB is a joke. AP is more useful in colleges and universities.
The PYP program at BES is great. My children were/are there. Something to celebrate in the Stuart pyramid. Thanks for posting.
The number of IB diploma candidates at Stuart and most other IB high schools in FCPS is very low. PYP at Belvedere and MYP at Glasgow seems designed to boost the statistics at Stuart, but wouldn't it just be better to offer AP. If AP is good enough for the higher-ranked schools in the county, why is Stuart saddled with IB?
