Body buried in backyard had multiple stab wounds

An autopsy of Truman Nguyen by the Fairfax County Office of the Chief Medical Examiner found his death had been caused by multiple stab wounds to the upper body, the police department announced Sept. 13.
Truman’s son, Philip Nguyen, 19, was charged with second-degree murder.

According to police detectives, there is evidence that the body was burned before it was buried in the backyard of the family home in the 3300 block of Nevius Street in Bailey’s Crossroads.
Truman’s wife had reported her husband missing on Sept. 6. At the time, police searched the residence, where Philip also lived, and found no signs of foul play or anything to indicate Truman was in danger, the FCPD states.

Based on information from multiple sources, the Major Crimes Bureau’s Missing Persons Squad learned Truman could be deceased and buried in the backyard. Police found the body on Sept. 8.
This is the 18th homicide in Fairfax County this year, compared to six during the same period in 2020. In five of the 2021 murders, the suspect is a family member.
Maybe it was a crime of passion?
