Bolivian Independence Day celebrated in Annandale

The local Bolivian-American community celebrated Bolivian Independence Day at Ossian Hall Park in Annandale Sunday with folkloric dance performances. 

Bolivia gained its independence from Spain on Aug. 6, 1825.

The show featured 18 groups, said Benito Colque of the Comite Pro Bolivia, an organization founded in 1987 with the goal of preserving Bolivian cultural traditions, especially among youths. 

The Fairfax County Health Department brought a mobile COVID vaccination clinic to the event with Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccines administered by Safeway.
