Burke & Herbert Bank supports Taste of Annandale

The Annandale branch of the Burke & Herbert Bank agreed to be a Gold-level sponsor of the Taste of Annandale, because “we’re a community bank, and we like to participate in community events,” says branch manager Marina Lubbers.

The Taste of Annandale is a street festival Oct. 13 on Tom Davis Drive with live music and dance, food trucks, restaurants, a best-dressed pet contest, beer garden, children’s entertainment, chili cook-off, and more.

At Burke & Herbert Bank’s table at the Taste of Annandale, there will be games, giveaways, and the bank’s mascot, Runyon the Parrot.

The bank is also active in Annandale Chamber of Commerce events, such as National Night Out and the Bed Race. “We want people to know who we are and that we’re here for them.”

The Annandale branch, at 4235 Annandale Road, is undergoing a complete renovation and plans to invite the community to a grand reopening celebration in late or November or early December.

Burke & Herbert Bank is celebrating its 166th birthday this year. It’s the oldest bank in Virginia, and it’s still owned and managed by descendants of the founding families, John Woolfolk Burke and Arthur Herbert in 1852.

The bank prides itself on its ability to mix old-fashioned values with modern technology, while putting a high premium on service to the community. The bank’s team often hands out fake mustaches at community events as a way to reflect the style of its founders and symbolize old-fashioned values and personal service.

As a community bank, Burke & Herbert offers personal relationships and services not found in large financial institutions, such as free checking, no minimum balance, no monthly service fees,
no ATM fees, and no fees for using ATMs at other banks nationwide.

Kids can open a savings account with just $10, and for every $25 they deposit, they’re entered into a drawing for a prize.
