Call for artists – Show your work in Annandale

The first Art in Daily Spaces exhibit last spring included paintings by Susan Yennerell at RAMP Optimal Performance and Wellness.

Local artists are invited to participate in the second round of Art in Daily Spaces, a project that transforms Annandale businesses into temporary art galleries.

Art in Daily Spaces is organized by Community Art For Everyone (CAFE) with support from ArtsFairfax.

Fifteen artists will be selected to display their works in 15 different businesses and other space in Annandale.

The idea, CAFE explains, is “to seamlessly integrate art into people’s everyday environments, providing casual visitors and patrons the opportunity to encounter, appreciate, and purchase local artists’ works at affordable prices.”

Each artist can present up to five new or existing artworks. They can use various media, such as oil paint, acrylics, watercolor, sketches, pastels, photography, ceramics, prints, fiber, or sculpture.

To apply, send an email to [email protected] by Dec. 31. Include an artist statement, list of exhibitions or projects (if applicable), and three sample images of current works.

The artworks will be installed in retail or institutional spaces, such as cafés, restaurants, hair salons, libraries, fitness centers, and government buildings.

The exhibit will be up from April 5 to May 4.

Participating artists will receive $100. Artists accepted for the exhibit will be notified by Jan. 31.

CAFE will assign artists to an exhibit space and will facilitate interactions between the artist and the venue. Artists will keep all proceeds from the sale of their work.
