Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.) invites the community to a candlelight vigil in remembrance of the 67 lives lost in the tragic American Airlines crash at National Airport last week.

The gathering will take place Feb. 5, at 5:30 p.m., at Rivergate City Park, 2 Montgomery St., on the Alexandria waterfront.

“As our community remains deeply saddened by this tragedy,” Beyer says, “this candlelight vigil will allow us to come together in remembrance of the lives we lost and offer our collective support to the families, friends, and loved ones directly impacted.”

Candles will be provided, but people can bring their own.

“It remains my team’s top priority to support the families affected by this tragedy and ensure they have the help they need,” Beyer says.

“I also recognize that the emotional and psychological toll on the families impacted, first responders, and our community at-large is profound,” he says. “Please know that if you need help, you are not alone.”

Free, confidential, and 24/7 support is available by dialing or texting 988. Beyer’s office has put together a list of mental health resources. People who need assistance are also encouraged to call his office at 703-658-5403.
