Ken and Brad Kolodner brought
traditional folk music to life at Mason District Park July 23. The video below,
by Bob Kovacs, features the group’s performance of “Reuben’s Train.”

Ken Kolodner, a hammered dulcimer player
and old-time fiddler, was joined by his son, Brad Kolodner, on clawhammer banjo
and Alex Lacquement on bass.

Kovacs is a musician, as well as a
videographer. In the video below, he performs the song “Tattoo” by Mike Rayburn
during a Lunch N’ Life session last week at the Shepherd’s Center of Annandale-Springfield, which is based at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Annandale. Kovacs has a large collection of videos from Spotlight concerts and other local shows on the AnnandaleArts You Tube channel.

Upcoming Spotlight by Starlight concerts at Mason
District Park include the Claire Lynch Band tonight (bluegrass); the Andrew Acosta New Old-Time String Band on Wednesday, Aug. 6; and folksinger Tom Paxton on Friday,
Aug. 8. All those shows are 7:30 in the amphitheater.
On Saturday, Aug. 9, 10 a.m., bring the
kids to Mason District Park for a puppet show put on by the GoodLife Theater. On Saturday evening,
bring the whole family to Ossian Hall Park for Korean Cultural Heritage Night
(7:30 p.m.)
