Celebrate Halloween early at Parklawn Spooky 5K/1K Saturday

Everyone in the Annandale/Mason area is invited to get in the Halloween spirit and come out to the first annual Parklawn Spooky 5K/1K Saturday, Oct. 25, sponsored by the Parklawn Civic Association. The wearing of costumes by runners and spectators is encouraged.
The organizers have already reached their goal of 100 runners, but people can still register until the last minute. Both races start and finish in Glasgow Park and wind through the Parklawn neighborhood.
Here’s the schedule of events:
7:30 a.m.—Registration opens and participants can check-in and pick up race packets.
9 a.m.—Kid’s 1K Fun Run.
9:30 a.m. —Parklawn Spooky 5K.
9:45 a.m.—Scavenger hunt in Glasgow Park for teams of one to four kids age 12 and under. The first team to find all the items or the team with the most items by 10:30 a.m. will win prizes.
10:45 a.m.—Costume contest judging.
11 a.m.—Post-race ceremony with prizes and raffles.
