The Fairfax County Animal Shelter will be celebrating National Dog Day this weekend with no-fee
dog and puppy adoptions along with fun activities. Normally, the fee for adopting a dog is $40.

The shelter is at 4500 West Ox Road,
Fairfax. The celebration takes place Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 24 and 25, 10
a.m.-5 p.m.

The shelter’s goal is to find loving homes
for the 25-plus dogs available right now. The festivities include doggie pool parties,
games and prizes throughout the weekend, snow cones (while they last), face
painting (in the afternoon), tours of the new shelter, and free training
consultations with a certified dog trainer.
