Characters and cocktails in Annandale

Joe Langley is Cthulhu, the sea monster from H.P. Lovecraft’s
horror stories.

Superheroes and other characters came to life at the first-ever
“Comics, Costumes, and Cocktails” event Feb. 27 sponsored by Collectors World
and Cue Club. Both stores are in the Annandale Shopping Center on Columbia
Pike.

Maggie Cogan of Herndon is Super Girl, and Joe Colton of Alexandria is Wonder Woman.
Anyone who showed up in costume Saturday evening got a $10
gift certificate for Collectors World. All comics are the shop were 50 percent
off, and Cue Club offered discounts on food and drinks, plus special
WebShooting and SuperSipping cocktails.
Collector’s World co-owners Steve Weber (Superman) and Damon
Hudson (Boba Fett from Star Wars).

Left to right: Kevin Conn (World Wrestling Federation
announcer), Keith Mandeville (GI Joe), John K. (Rowdy Roddy Piper), and William
Jay (the Terminator).

Collector’s World employee Louis Guzman didn’t have time to find a comic book outfit but luckily scrounged up a bacon costume at the last minute.

  1. Sounds like fun!

I bought a great autographed photo of a favorite NFL player (in his college years, no less) from Collector's World as a Christmas present for my husband a couple of years ago. We both love it.

Even if you're not into comics, you may well find a treat there; please support our local small businesses–especially unique ones like this!
