Child Development Center gets a facelift
The ACCA Child Development Center building in Annandale is getting a façade upgrade.
The Fairfax County Facilities Management Department is replacing the windows and some of the exterior doors on the county-owned building at 7200 Columbia Pike.
The new windows will be energy efficient but won’t be openable, says CDC Executive Director Maria-Isabel Ballivian. Workers also repaired and power-washed the bricks.
A mural is in the works for the side of the building adjacent to the Eileen Garnett Civic Space.
The CDC serves nearly 300 infants, toddlers, and preschoolers and offers a summer program for school-age children.
The building is on the site of the original eight-classroom Annandale Elementary School. The school was enlarged in 1951 and closed several decades ago. Fairfax County leased part of the building to the Annandale Christian Community for Action in the early 1980s. The CDC now occupies the entire building.
