Covering Annandale, Bailey's Crossroads, Lincolnia, and Seven Corners in Fairfax County, Virginia

Community forum at Annandale HS offers tips on financial fraud prevention

Learn how to avoid getting scammed by financial fraud con artists at a free public safety community forum Thursday, Oct. 10, 6:30-8:30 p.m., in the Annandale High School cafeteria.

The session is hosted by the Fairfax County Police Department in partnership with the Fairfax County Department of Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS).

More than 4,000 financial crimes a year are investigated by Fairfax County police. At the forum, financial crimes detectives will present strategies on how to protect your assets and identity. If you’ve already been victimized, they will offer advice on how to minimize the damage. The program will also cover other public safety topics, such as pedestrian safety.

The session is sponsored by the Annandale Roundtable, Korean American Association of Virginia, Legal Aid Justice Center, and Virginia Coalition of Latino Organizations. Translators will be available.

A light meal and refreshments will be provided. Park in the lot behind the school and enter through door 7. For more information, contact Jackeline El Mrini of NCS, 703-533-5701.
